Canon Business Bestie

We're out to find NZ's ultimate office hero! That person that makes your work-life that much better. Get nominating and be in to win prizes for yourself and your colleagues. Submit your entry before Sunday 12 September 2021.

Winner Announced

A Canon Business Bestie is one of those people that just make work-life that much better! Every company has an unsung hero and we wanted to recognise them for all their hard work and hear what makes them the Best in the Business!

After our panel of judges narrowed down the entries to the final 5, the public had a week to vote for their favourite finalist on the Canon Business NZ linkedin page. Voting closed Sunday 26th September.

Collecting over 150 comments and likes, Claire Trebilco, Head of Arts Faculty at Kingsway School is crowned Canon's ultimate Business Bestie.

Here's what Claire's colleagues had to say about her:

"Claire is a passionate arts teacher who has tenaciously lead our student production of Aladdin for the last two years. After months of prep in 2020 the show was cancelled due to the pandemic. Claire was guttered for the kids that had worked so hard and missed out. Understandably frustrated by these events, Claire had to park the production as she went on maternity leave in Term 3 last year.

Actor, dancer, director, leader; and now she had just added the title mother. Claire came back at the start of 2021 determined 'that the show must go on'. After six months of rehearsals and planning the show opened on Saturday, August 14th. However, the casts thrill and excitement lasted only until Tuesday. For as they were preparing for the second of the seven show season, the Prime Minister announced that New Zealand was again going into lockdown.

Claire is a superstar in our organisation. Her passionate and empathetic leadership over the past 20 months has been incredible to see. She has loved our students, cried with them and demonstrated what it is to stare adversity in the face and to get up and go again."

It's someone that has your back, someone you can trust to always get the job done, or goes above and beyond to help others out.

  • 2. What's a Business Bestie?

Like paper to your printer, sanitiser to your hands. A business bestie is someone your office cannot do without, like Jamie the Executive Assistant who whips up a slide deck in 5 minutes flat, or Ash from IT who resets your password when you’ve forgotten it for the third time. They make your work-life that much better. They don't have to be the person you get along with best or the one you spend the most time with, but the work they do is hugely appreciated in your role and your team. A Business Bestie is someone that has your back, someone you can trust to always get the job done, or goes above and beyond to help others out.
