Dialing the Coded Speed Dial
Redialing
This section describes methods of sending faxes and dialing functions of the machine.
Sending Faxes (Memory Sending)
1. Prepare for faxing.
(1) Turn on the machine.
(2) Load the original on the Platen Glass or the ADF.
Caution
When sending a double-sided document, set the document on the Platen Glass. You cannot scan double-sided documents from the ADF.
(3) Press the FAX button.
(4) Adjust fax settings as necessary.
2. Start faxing.
(1) Dial the recipient's number using the Numeric buttons or coded speed dialing.
Caution
For details on how to use coded speed dialing, see Dialing the Coded Speed Dial.
(2) Press the Color button for color sending, or the Black button for black & white sending.
(3) When the following message is displayed, load the next page on the Platen Glass.
If you have only one page of document to scan, go to step (6).
(4) Press the same button as you pressed in step (2).
(5) Repeat steps (3) and (4) to scan in all pages of the document.
(6) Press the OK button.
Caution
Color sending is available only when the recipient's fax machine supports color faxing.
Caution
Sending Faxes after Confirming Connection (Manual Sending)
Use manual sending if you want to talk to the recipient before sending a document, or if the recipient does not have a fax machine that can receive automatically.
Caution
1. Connect a telephone to the machine.
2. Prepare for faxing.
(1) Turn on the machine.
(2) Load the original in the ADF.
Caution
For details on the types and conditions of originals which you can fax, see Loading Original Documents.
(3) Press the FAX button.
(4) Adjust fax settings as necessary.
3. Lift the handset of the telephone connected to the machine.
4. Dial the recipient's number on the telephone.
5. Talk through the handset to the recipient.
If you hear a high-pitched signal instead of the recipient's voice, go to step 7.
6. Ask the recipient to set recipient's fax machine to receive faxes.
7. When you hear a high-pitched signal, press the Color button for color sending, or the Black button for black & white sending. Then hang up the handset.
Caution
Color sending is available only when the recipient's fax machine supports color faxing.
Caution
To cancel manual sending, press the Stop/Reset button.
Dialing the Coded Speed Dial
1. Prepare for faxing.
2. Press the Coded Dial button.
3. Press the Numeric buttons to enter the two-digit code (00 - 19) assigned to the number you want to dial.
4. Press the Color button for color sending, or the Black button for black & white sending.
Caution
Color sending is available only when the recipient's fax machine supports color faxing.
Caution
To cancel sending a fax, press the Stop/Reset button. To cancel sending a fax while it is being sent, press the Stop/Reset button, then follow the instructions on the LCD.
Redialing
There are two methods of redialing: Automatic redialing and Manual redialing. Automatic redialing is enabled by default.
When using memory sending to send a document and the recipient's line is busy, the machine will redial the number after a specified interval.
You can customize the following automatic redialing settings:
To change the automatic redialing settings, change the AUTO REDIAL settings in TX SETTINGS under FAX SETTINGS.
Caution
To redial the fax number last dialed with the Numeric buttons, press the Redial/Pause button.
