Can an EF lens mounted on a film camera be used on a Digital SLR or Interchangeable-Lens Compact System camera?

Solution

Even if your EF lens came with a silver halide film camera, it can be used on a Digital SLR or interchangeable-lens compact system camera.

'EF' is shown on the front of EF lenses before the focal length.

Caution

If the EF-EOS M mount adapter is used, it is possible to use EF or EF-S lenses with the camera.
EF-M lenses can only be used with Interchangeable-Lens Compact System Cameras. It is not possible to use EF-M lenses on 35 mm full-size, or APS Digital SLR cameras.
