The Canon RF 5.2mm f/2.8L Dual Fisheye lens is the world’s first¹ lens for digital interchangeable lens cameras enabling 180° VR shooting with one camera to a single sensor. When the lens is combined with a firmware upgrade on the EOS R5², it will offer the industry's first ever 8K 30p³ VR compatibility on a digital interchangeable lens camera using a full frame sensor.
The Canon RF 5.2mm f/2.8L Dual Fisheye lens allows the shooter to capture digital images and video for use in virtual reality, including augmented and mixed reality media. With the lens capturing a wide angle of view from 2 separate angles, a 3D image can be created.
The Canon RF 5.2mm f/2.8L Dual Fisheye lens is easy to set up with your EOS R5, EOS R5 C and EOS R6 Mark II. Simply apply a filter if needed to the rear of the lens, attach it to your camera, set your focus and you're ready to go. This removes the need for multiple camera set ups and quick and easy installation in most environments.
The Canon RF 5.2mm f/2.8L Dual Fisheye lens will create a high-quality image, essential for an immersive VR video experience. Using the compatible camera along with the lens, you are able to shoot movies at up to 8K³ in Canon Log, which will work in tandem with any Canon Cinema EOS cameras.
Along with the Canon RF 5.2mm f/2.8L Dual Fisheye lens, Canon’s EOS VR System also includes a newly developed Canon VR Utility application and EOS VR Plug-in for Adobe® Premiere® Pro to make the image conversion process⁴, from a dual circular fisheye image to a more recognisable side-by-side equirectangular 180° VR format, effortless.
The Canon RF 5.2mm f/2.8L Dual Fisheye lens supports shooting in dark locations with its large f/2.8 aperture, along with the optical performance of an L series lens. In conjunction with the EOS R5's high-sensitivity CMOS sensor and DIGIC X processor, the two work in conjuction with eachother to create high quality, low noise footage.
