Canon New Zealand joins the Ākina Impact Buyer Programme

28th November 2023

Canon New Zealand is proud to be a member of the Ākina Impact Buyer Programme. We endeavour to create positive social and environmental changes through social procurement in partnership with the Ākina Foundation. Canon joins the company of other organisations such as The Warehouse Group, Air New Zealand, ANZ, Westpac, Auckland Transport, NZ Post, and Auckland Council; who are all striving to take a leadership role in creating a deeper social impact.

The Ākina Foundation strives to enact meaningful change through our economy, readying companies with the right tools to make a difference and showing how to put positive social and environmental impacts at the heart of how we do business in Aotearoa. With tailored business development services addressing poverty, inequality, and climate change, partnering with the Ākina Foundation helps Canon forge meaningful outcomes through our supply chain.

Canon's membership with the Ākina Impact Buyer Programme lets us utilise investment, community, and impact industry experts and resources to transform our procurement activities. Currently, Canon holds the Guide membership tier, employing Social Procurement Advisory services. These services helped us define critical areas in our business for more significant social impact.

The Ākina Impact Buyer Programme offers a comprehensive directory of socially certified suppliers that enables us at Canon to make purchases while considering the impact, price, quality, and risk. By procuring with a sense of purpose and intention through our supply chain, we can make a meaningful difference.

We also attend Ākina's Buyer Best Practice Social Procurement Master Class events, enriching our knowledge of best practices in Social Procurement.

Our work within the Ākina Impact Buyer Programme also brings Canon closer to our Broader Outcomes goals. Guided by our business philosophy, Kyosei, living and working together for the common good, Canon continually seeks new opportunities to do good at work, at home, and in the wider community.
