Canon XF Utility is software that supports the video format XF-HEVC, XF-MPEG and XF-AVC, and is used for importing, playing back and managing video data as well as cropping still-image data.

Changes for Canon XF Utility 3.7.1 for macOS :

- Supports Firmware Version 1.0.5.0 or later for the XF405 / XF400.
- Supports Firmware Version 1.0.1.0 or later for the XA55 / XA50.
- Supports the XA45 / XA40. (The firmware needs to be version 1.0.1.0 or later.)

System requirements

Required System Configuration:

To use this software, your computer has to meet the following system requirements.

1. Supported OS
- macOS 10.15, 10.14, 10.13, 10.12

2. Supported computers
A Mac computer supporting the OSes above.

RAM:
- 4 GB or more

3. Display
- Resolution: 1,024x768 or higher


Recommended System Configuration:
To enable real-time playback of 4K 30p/2K 60p movies shot with XF705 (XF-HEVC), the following additional configurations are recommended in addition to the above required system configurations.

CPU:
- Intel Xeon E5 2.7GHz 12core or greater

RAM:
- 32 GB or more


To enable real-time playback of 2K 60p movies shot with XF705 (XF-AVC), the following additional configurations are recommended in addition to the above required system configurations.

CPU:
- Intel Core i7 (model number in the 4000s 4core / 2.2GHz) or greater

RAM:
- 8 GB or more


To enable real-time playback of 4K 60p movies shot with EOS C70, EOS C700 FF, EOS C700 FF PL, EOS C700 GS PL, EOS C700, EOS C700 PL, EOS C500 Mark II, EOS C300 Mark III, the following additional configurations are recommended in addition to the above required system configurations (with the exception of the case in which the movie is displayed 100%).

CPU:
- Intel Xeon E5 2.7GHz 12core or greater

RAM:
- 32 GB or more


To playback 4K movies shot with XA45, XA40, EOS C300 Mark II, EOS C200, EOS C200B, XF405, XF400, XA55, XA50, the following system configurations are recommended in addition to the above required system configurations.

- 32 GB or more


To playback 4K movies shot with XC15, XC10, the following system configurations are recommended in addition to the above required system configurations.

To play back movies shot with XF-MPEG models, the following system configurations are recommended in addition to the above required system configurations.

Setup Instructions

Please refer to the instructions below on how to download and install the software.
Exit all other applications when installing this software.

1. Download "xum-3-7-1-6-9l.dmg.gz" from the download page.

2. Extract "xum-3-7-1-6-9l.dmg.gz" on the computer to generate "xum-3-7-1-6-9l.dmg".

3. Double-click "xum-3-7-1-6-9l.dmg", and double-click the "XUMInstaller" file in the automatically-mounted disc image "xum37".

4. Follow the on-screen instructions to complete the installation.
