  • Reducing and recycling

Canon is a founding member of TechCollect, New Zealand's first free e-waste recycling pilot scheme¹. This service is available to the community and businesses looking to recycle unwanted and end-of-life electrical and electronic equipment. We also have an ongoing partnership with Croxley Recycling. Through this partnership, we recycle customer ink cartridges and end-of-life devices to ensure that less than 1% of waste reaches landfills.

  • Toitū Carbonzero certified

We are proud to be a Toitū Net Carbonzero certified business². This means we consistently measure and minimise our gas emissions, helping us do our part for the future of Aotearoa. Our New Zealand office was the first Canon company globally certified as Net Carbonzero. We received our Toitū Net Carbonzero certification in December 2019. This certification is recognised globally in over 60 countries and has been developed in collaboration with scientists specialising in greenhouse gas measurement.

  • Green packaging and hybrid fleet

Canon is replacing polystyrene with moulded fibre pulp packaging. We’re scaling our impact through innovative industry partnerships that champion sustainability. We have committed to converting our entire fleet of technician vehicles to hybrid by 2024 and are well on the way, with a 99% conversion already achieved in 2023. As a result of our progress so far, we have reduced polystyrene production and our fleet fuel emissions. Additionally, we commit to reducing our direct (Scope 1 and 2) emissions by 1.5% annually⁴.
