Notice of Quality Issue: MC-G01 Maintenance Cartridge Used in GX Series Inkjet Printers

We have identified a potential issue with the MC-G01 Maintenance Cartridge used in GX series inkjet printers. Under certain operating conditions, a small amount of ink may leak from the inside of the printer. We would like to inform you of the details and our response to this matter.

We sincerely apologise for any inconvenience this may cause when using the affected products. Canon will continue to strengthen its quality control measures to ensure that you can use our products with confidence. We appreciate your understanding.

Issue
When replacing a print head or performing one of the maintenance functions, “Ink Flush,” a small amount of ink may leak from the right side of the printer.

The printer units with the serial numbers listed below and the consumable MC-G01 Maintenance Cartridge with the serial numbers listed below are affected.

Note: The printer serial number consists of nine characters (first four alphabets, followed by five numerical digits), printed on the warranty card and on the label on the rear side of the printer.

The maintenance cartridge serial number consists of nine characters (first four alphabets, followed by five numerical digits), printed on a label on the front side of the cartridge.

Service Response
If the printer has not leaked and is an affected serial number, please contact Canon to arrange a free replacement MC-G01 Maintenance Cartridge. Please remove the affected MC-G01 and dispose in e-waste recycling then install the replacement MC-G01.

If the printer has leaked ink and is an affected serial number, please contact Canon to arrange a free replacement GX printer. Please dispose of the affected GX printer and MC-G01 Maintenance Cartridge via e-waste recycling. Please do not remove the MC-G01 to prevent further ink leakage.
