To the Users of XF305 XF300 Professional Digital Video Cameras

15th December 2011
We would like to inform our users that to further prevent damage to the display panel due to incident sunlight, we have decided to attach a filter to the viewfinder.

Thank you for using Canon products.

To enhance the visibility of the viewfinder of the XF305 and XF300 professional Digital Video Cameras, the area of the viewfinder has been increased. Therefore, sunlight easily enters through the viewfinder and this incident light converges on the internal display panel inside the camcorder, and in rare cases, damages the display panel.

To prevent damage to the display panel, we have implemented measures by attaching a cautionary label to the viewfinder, bundling a viewfinder cap with the product, and including a leaflet to encourage users to attach the viewfinder cap when not using the viewfinder.

We would like to inform our users that to further prevent damage to the display panel due to incident sunlight, we have decided to attach a filter to the viewfinder.

Improvement:

A filter to absorb external incident light will be added to the viewfinder unit.

After this filter is attached, the image viewed through the viewfinder will appear slightly darker.
User Support:

Users with digital video cameras that are within the scope of support are asked to contact a Canon. After having confirmed the details, we will send the modified viewfinder units to our users free of charge.

How to Identify If the Video Camera is within the Scope of Support:

The XF305 and XF300 Professional Digital Video Cameras whose seventh digit in the serial number is 0, 1, or 2 are within the scope of support.
