What is Imaging Engine?

The Basics:

The Imaging Engine is the processor inside a camera, much like the processor inside a computer, except that it’s built for the specific purpose of processing images and camera functions. Canon’s Imaging Engine is known as ‘DiG!C’ (derived from the words Digital Imaging Core), and is always named in version numbers, such as DiG!C 7.
