- Duval Scholarship: Thammarat Verkade learns portrait photography
-
Talented young photographer, Louis Duval sadly passed away in 2020. He was an accomplished photographer and videographer who ran his own photography website, Ikan Images.
The Canon team first met Louis at Crankworx 2020, a mountain biking festival held in Rotorua attended by many sports photographers capturing professional cyclists.
Louis planned to become a full time photographer and travel the world. He was also an avid mountain biker and played in the school basketball and volleyball teams.
More than $24,500 had been donated by around 440 contributors to a Givealittle page set up to collect donations towards the funeral service. Leftover funds donated towards the funeral service for the Whangaparāoa teenager have gone towards a photography scholarship.
Thammarat (Bom) Verkade was the first candidate of the Duval Scholarship for 2021 who was interested in portraiture photography. He was partnered with commercial and portrait photographer, Anupam Singh to learn more about studio modelling and lighting. Bom also received an EOS RP with an RF 35mm as part of the scholarship.
