Is the EOS R6 V a good camera for filming handheld video?

Yes, it's built specifically for this. A flat, video-first body designed for gimbals and handheld shooting, in-body stabilisation rated up to 7.5 stops, and no protruding viewfinder make it easy to shoot smooth handheld and gimbal footage all day.

What's the difference between the EOS R6 V and the EOS R6 Mark III?

Both share the same 32.5MP sensor and processor, but the R6 V drops the viewfinder and mechanical shutter in favour of a video-focused design with active cooling, a vertical shooting mode and controls built around content creation, while the R6 Mark III keeps a traditional photo-hybrid body with an EVF. The R6 V suits video-first creators, while the R6 Mark III suits photographers who also shoot video.

Can the EOS R6 V shoot vertical video for social media?

Yes. It includes a vertical tripod mount and a rotating vertical-video user interface, plus 7K open-gate recording so you can reframe footage into 9:16, 1:1 or 16:9 later without losing quality.

Does the EOS R6 V overheat during long recording sessions?

It's designed to minimise this. An active cooling system with a built-in fan helps the EOS R6 V sustain demanding recording modes, such as 7K RAW, for longer than a passively cooled body.

Is the EOS R6 V suitable for podcasts and livestreaming?

Yes. Features like a tally lamp, full-size HDMI, a front record button and reliable autofocus for people make it well suited to podcast setups, livestreams and multi-camera creator workflows.

What's the key difference between the EOS R6 V and the EOS C50?

They share the same 32.5MP sensor, but sit in different systems. The R6 V is a mirrorless EOS camera built for solo creators - lighter, more affordable, with in-body stabilisation for handheld and gimbal work. The C50 is a Cinema EOS camera aimed at professional productions, adding a detachable XLR audio handle, cinema-grade menu system and workflow tools for crews and filmmakers.
