Displaying the Electronic Level(EOS 6D)

To help level the camera, the electronic level can be displayed on the LCD monitor, in the viewfinder, and on the LCD panel. Note that only the horizontal level will be displayed. (No vertical level.)

Caution

Even when the tilt is corrected, there is a margin of error of ±1 degree.
If the camera is significantly tilted, the electronic level’s margin of error will be greater.
If the Depth-of-field preview button has been assigned with the [VFelectronic level], depth-of-field preview will not work.

Displaying the Electronic Level on the LCD Monitor

1. Set the power switch to ⋖ON⋗.

2. Press the ⋖INFO.⋗ button.

Each time you press the ⋖INFO.⋗ button, the screen display will change.

Caution

If the electronic level does not appear, first select [ ] from the menu, then [INFO. button display options], and finally [Electronic level] in the window that appears on the LCD monitor.

3. Check the camera’s tilt.

The horizontal tilt is displayed in 1 degree increments.
When the red line turns green, it indicates that the tilt is corrected.

Caution

With this same procedure, you can display the electronic level during Live View shooting and before shooting a movie. Note that the electronic level cannot be displayed during movie shooting. (The electronic level will disappear when you start shooting a movie.)

Displaying the Electronic Level in the Viewfinder

The electronic level display in the viewfinder and on the LCD panel uses the exposure level scale. Note that the electronic level is only displayed when shooting in horizontal orientation. It is not displayed in vertical orientation.

1. Set the power switch to ⋖ON⋗.

2. Press the ⋖MENU⋗ button to display the menu.

3. Press the ⋖Multi-controller⋗ to select [C.Fn III:Operation/Others] under the [ ] tab, and then press the ⋖SET⋗ butoon.

4. Press the ⋖Multi-controller⋗ to select [5:Custom Controls], and then press the ⋖SET⋗ button.

5. Press the ⋖Multi-controller⋗ to select [2][:DOF preview button], ad then press the ⋖SET⋗ button.

6. Press the ⋖Multi-controller⋗ to select [ :VF electronic level ], and then press the ⋖SET⋗ button. Press the ⋖MENU⋗ button to exit the menu.

7. Display the electronic level.

Press the Depth-of-field previewbutton.

The horizontal tilt up to ±9° in 1° increments will be displayed in the viewfinder and on the LCD panel using the exposure level indicator.

Pressing the shutter button halfway left tilt displays the exposure level.
