[ Phenomenon ]
If the printer driver or scanner driver is installed in Windows 8, and if you upgrade Windows 8 to Windows 8.1 while keeping the driver(s) installed, you may experience the following phenomenon after the upgrade:
The printer status is not displayed on the PC (for example, it is not indicated on the PC if a paper jam occurs or if an ink tank is getting empty).
Scanning does not start even when the Scan button on the printer is pressed or when Scan is selected on the operation panel.

Uninstall the applicable driver, and re-install it.
