Cleaning the Inside of the Machine (Bottom Plate Cleaning)

This section explains how to clean the inside of the machine. If the inside of the machine becomes dirty, printed paper may get dirty, so we recommend performing cleaning regularly.

Caution

Do not perform any other operations while performing the Bottom Plate Cleaning.

1. Make sure that the machine is turned on.

2. Open the Paper Output Tray gently.

3. Press the [ Setup ] button.

4. Select [ Maintenance ], then press the OK button.

The Maintenance screen is displayed.

5. Use the button to select [ Bottom plate cleaning ], then press the OK button.

The confirmation screen is displayed.

6. Use the button to select [ Yes ], then press the OK button.

7. Remove any paper from the Rear Tray following the on-screen instructions, then press the OK button.

8. After folding a single sheet of A4 or Letter-sized plain paper in half widthwise, unfold the paper following the on-screen instructions, then press the OK button.

9. Load only this sheet of paper on the Rear Tray with the open side facing to the front following the on-screen instructions, then press the OK button.

(A) Load the paper after unfolding it.

The paper cleans the inside of the machine as it feeds through the machine.

10. When the completion message is displayed, press the OK button.

Check the folded part of the ejected paper. If it is smudged with ink, perform Bottom Plate Cleaning again.

If the problem is not resolved after performing cleaning again, the protrusions inside the machine may be stained. Clean them according to instructions.

Caution

When performing Bottom Plate Cleaning again, be sure to use a new sheet of paper.

Cleaning the Protrusions inside the Machine

If protrusions inside the machine are stained, wipe off any ink from the protrusions using a cotton swab or the like.

Caution

- Be sure to turn off the power and unplug the power cord before cleaning the machine.

The power cannot be turned off while the machine is sending or receiving a fax, or when the received fax or unsent fax are stored in the machine's memory. Make sure if the machine completed sending or receiving all the faxes before disconnecting the power cord.
The machine cannot send or receive faxes when the power is turned off.
If you unplug the power cord, all the faxes stored in the machine's memory will be deleted. Print the necessary faxes or save them to the memory card/USB flash drive before unplugging the power cord.
