Describe yourself in 25 words or less:

I grew up travelling through remote islands in the Pacific with my family. Photography was a way to occupy my time and document my travels. That’s where my photography journey began.

Tell us about your photography journey so far:

I started my career doing many things including wedding and portrait photography and working in photographic labs. But my first full-time photography role was as a cruise ship photographer. I’ve also worked in sales for many different brands, which lead me to Canon. I’ve been here 13 years!

Share the story behind one of your most memorable photographs:

I’ve been very lucky in my career to witness some amazing scenes, but the most memorable image for me is a portrait of my new son and his new mother.

Explain your go-to gear and why you rate it so highly:

Definitely the EOS-1D X Mark II paired with an EF 24-70mm f/2.8L II USM. Is there anything this combo can’t do?! It covers 90% of what I capture.
Also the EOS 5DSR paired with an EF 35mm f/1.4L II is a landscape powerhouse which I love using.

What's your favourite part of your job as a Canon Collective Ambassador?

Getting to share my experiences and knowledge of photography. Also learning from others through their knowledge and past experiences. There are some amazing individuals out there creating amazing images.

If weren't a Canon Collective Ambassador what would you be doing?

I would be still in the Consumer Imaging Division at Canon, supporting retailers with training and events.

What's the first thing a new photographer needs to learn?

Patience. Most great photographs have invested a lot of thought and time. Anyone can take a photograph; it takes some time and patience to create an image.

Who inspires you?

I draw inspiration from many people, however it comes mainly from my family, and my fellow Canon Collective Ambassadors.

Where’s your favourite location to shoot and why?

This changes all the time! There are so many great locations in South Australia and Western Australia I really couldn’t pick one.

You can create one more image before you die – what is it of?

This changes from day to day, but I would love to travel to northwest Australia and capture the raw wild that is the Kimberley. The remoteness and natural beauty of this region is so unique, and to get a chance to document it is certainly a bucket list item.
