Who may enter this competition? Australian and New Zealand residents who have access to or own a digital camera and are not professional photographers. Please see Terms and Conditions of entry for full details.

What is the prize if I win one of the briefs? Prize details can be found here.

I am under 18, can I enter? Yes, provided you check with your parents or guardians to ensure that they consent to you participating in the program and uploading any photos. The parent or guardian will also need to accept the prize and accompany the under 18 year old on the trip at their expense. See the Terms and Conditions for full details.

I am a professional photographer - can I enter? No, the Canon EOS Photo5 competition is designed for amateur photographers and so anyone having earned more than AU$35,000 (Australian Residents) or NZ$35,000 (New Zealand Residents) from photography work in the last 12 months cannot enter this competition. If you enter, you will be breaching the Terms and Conditions and will not be eligible to receive any prizes.

Am I under any obligation to purchase anything? None whatsoever. However, if you have any product enquiries, please contact your nearest Canon reseller or click here for to view the full Canon range.

Do I need to feature one of the EOS Photo5 objects in my image? You need to follow the detailed Briefs provided for each. If you run out of the items, you can source additional items. However, if you did not enter in time to receive a box, you are only eligible to enter the Open Brief.
Incomplete, indecipherable, or illegible entries will be deemed invalid. Please refer to the Terms and Conditions for full details.

How many times can I enter? Entrants who receive a box may upload one photo per brief, with a maximum of 5 entries during the upload period. Users who upload an entry to each brief are automatically entered in the Portfolio competition. Those who have not received a box can only enter the open brief.

What is the Portfolio competition? In addition to awarding individual finalists and winners for each of the 5 briefs, we’ll also be awarding a prize to the photographer who has the best set of 5 images. You don’t have to do anything extra to be eligible for this, you just need to complete and upload photos to all 5 briefs. Further information on the Portfolio Brief can be found here.

If I am a Finalist - do I automatically win a prize? No, final prizes will be decided by public vote and the winners announced on 30 November.

If I'm featured on the website as a finalist does that mean I'm eligible for the Major Prize? Yes. Finalists eligible for the Major Prize will also be announced on the site on 9 November. Prize details can be found here.

Is my privacy protected? Yes, when someone visiting the EOS Photo5 website looks at one of your images, they will only be able to see the Username you chose. They won’t be able to see your email address or full name.
