Forbes.com Names Canon on "10 Companies that are Genuinely Green" List

Selected from a broad range of industries including mining, manufacturing and energy, Forbes cited a range of Canon environmental initiatives including its Environmental Planning Centre and Environment Promotion Centre at Canon’s Japanese headquarters, which help the Company measure its environmental performance as well as the publication of its annual sustainability report in both English and Japanese.

“At Canon, locally and globally we are committed to the environment with a focus on reducing the impact of our own activities and helping our customers reduce theirs while delivering world-class digital imaging technologies,” said Janet Leslie, Manager QSE Canon Oceania. “This recognition further validates our commitment to the environment.”

The Forbes.com Genuinely Green Companies list recognizes companies that have implemented globally recognized environmental management systems, published detailed disclosures of their environmental performance records and pledged to reduce their emissions and pollution levels.

Further augmenting Canon's environmental efforts, Forbes recognized the disclosure of extensive information about greenhouse gases and CO2 emissions, while locally Canon Australia received a Silver Award from the NSW Government for its involvement in the Sustainability Advantage Program.

Canon Oceania companies include Canon Australia, Canon New Zealand, Canon Finance Australia, Canon Finance New Zealand and Lamberts. More information about Canon’s environmental initiatives in the Oceania region can be found at Canon Oceania 2010 Sustainability Report.
