Canon at the Australian Open 2009
The deal will see Canon install 90 networked multifunction office devices and provide technical support at each of the three events.
Canon printers, scanners, faxes and other printing and imaging devices will be in operation in the media, administration and official lounge areas.
"The Australian Open and AO Series events attract more than 500 professional tennis players from around the world and a 1500-strong international and domestic media contingent, showcasing our events to the world," Tennis Australia's CEO Steve Wood said.
"Canon's reliability and expertise is hugely important to us in providing simple, efficient technology support so we can focus on running the best possible tournaments," Wood continued.
At the Australian Open tennis fans can have fun experimenting hands-on with the latest digital cameras and printers at the Canon Interactive Experience Booth. Keen photographers can also print their photographs using high quality PIXMA printers.
Competitions will be held around the grounds with a Canon PowerShot digital camera up for grabs each day.
The Canon Professional Services team will also be on-site at Australian Open 2009 to support the needs of professional photographers using Canon's renowned EOS digital SLR cameras and EF lenses. On-site maintenance and equipment loan services will be available to accredited photographers as required.
"Canon's sponsorship of the AO Series and Australian Open 2009 is the ideal way to show what we are capable of for both business and consumers and we are thrilled to be involved in these great events," Assistant General Manager-Marketing for Canon CIPG, Darren Ryan, said.
"A large-scale event such as the Australian Open provides the perfect showcase for the capabilities of our office imaging equipment, while the sporting spectacle gives consumers a chance to experience our camera and printer products in a fun and memorable way."
Globally Canon has been a loyal supporter of international tennis and has sponsored Maria Sharapova since 2004.
